Sick......

So, I woke up last night to (one of the worst) things a mother could wake up to...a sick baby! Poor little Emmie was choking on nasty, yucky stuff draining all in her mouth (sorry for TMI:) I got up with her and she wasn't running a fever, but I have have never seen such a tiny baby with so much drainage like she had ! She would cough and then choke, sooo pitiful! Anyway, I called the doctor and he said to give her saline drops and clean her mouth and nose out with the suction-thingy (not sure what else to call it). She DID NOT like that, but it was definitely needed!! Anyway, this morning I did the same thing and still just has horrible, thick stuff like crazy! The doctor said to keep a close eye on her temp. and eating as with her still being so small and a preemie with the respiratory problems she had, we have to be extremely careful not to let ANYthing get too far before bringing her in, if needed. So, I tell you all the gross details hoping someone may have had the same experience with one of your little ones. It was just so wired because up until she woke up last night, literally, not a single sign she was sick, then all of a sudden, all this stuff came out of nowhere. My mom says it could be a sinus infection with her having so much drainage that quickly...I don't know? So, if anyone has any thoughts on it, let me know. Also, just say prayers she gets over this quickly and without any complications, she definitely does not need to get sick at this stage! I took these pictures yesterday, thought you all would enjoy looking at a sweet little angel from heaven.....:) This is her falling asleep in her swing, she can't quite keep her head from falling forward yet...LOL So, mommy tries "pushing" her head back to keep it from falling off and this is the funny little face she gives me!! And I end up sleeping like this... These are just some more cute pictures I took yesterday.... And last, but not least...I thought I'd show you a little bit of Mini-Michelle coming out in Emmie ALREADY!! She is learning very quickly when she gets mad, she lets me know!! I put her in the Boppy next to me on the couch so I could try and eat some lunch and little Miss Emmie didn't think Mommy needed lunch as much as she needed to hold her!! LOL The lighting is bad, sorry, but you can hear her "mad" cry.....and see her pouty lip...and see how she is pushing herself back on her legs and throwing her head around (Okay, maybe that part she can't help much :) And don't EVEN say "Bless Her Heart" because she is held 23/7...LOL Just Kidding, I say it too!!

Poor Baby AND Mama!! I hate that she's sick, but I don't really have any advice. Has she gotten the RSV shots yet? I just remember when Gracie had RSV, she would cough so much she wasn't breathing and then she would have some mucus come up out of her throat. I hope it's nothing like that!!!

Oh yea, cute pictures. I couldn't see the video though. I'm not sure why. It said it was unavailable.

I hope that little Miss Priss gets to feeling better!! Just keep using that saline, it sure does work and is so much better than letting the congestion settle and having to use meds for an infection - sounds like you are doing a great job Mama!!!

Caroline and I (since Monday night)have had a stomach virus and this is the first time that she has thrown up from actually being sick (we went through a spell of her being car sick). It is soooo pitiful. I think that we are both feeling a ton better this morning - we'll see how the day goes!

I'm w/ Shonna use the saline drops. They used to be hard to use in my opinion, but I was at Wal-mart or somewhere the other day and seen they have put it in a can type thing that sprays which is awesome. Hope she is well soon!!! It is hard w/ sick babies. The video is to cute, I miss the little baby cry.

Saline and Suction--I believe is the best remedy at the moment. I hope it doesn't progress to a sinus infection. It's pitiful when they aren't feeling well. As for the video, it made me want to reach in and pick up that precious little girl--TOO CUTE!

I am sorry that little angel is sick, she is precious! Yes, as everyone else recommends keep up the saline and suction. Also you may want to get a cool mist vaporizer to keep everything loosened up. The dry heat during the winter can be very harse on a little one's lungs. You may also try elevating her head about 45 degrees during sleep or play. It will keep all that drainage from choking her so bad. I don't know if she is still too small but there is a chest rub for infants that smells alot better than the regular. It always seems to help my girls breathe and also had a calming effect. I will shut up in a minute-- try taking her in the bathroom with you when you get a shower. The steam will help break up the mucus also. I used to put the girls in their bouncy seat and set them in the bathroom floor. Good luck and we will be praying for Ms. Emmie! Let us know how she is doing. Make sure you take care of yourself too, she needs her mommy well,

We've had the same thing with Andrew already, Michelle. If you have a breathing treatment machine,(for some reason I can't think of the real word for it at the moment), you can get sodium chloride from the pharmacy to put in it. It's not prescribed meds. That really helped break his cold up. As a matter of fact, we're off to the doctor again this afternoon with both of my boys having bad colds. It seems we can't go over 2 weeks without being sick and in the doctor's office.
