Update

I just wanted to update everyone on Michelle and Emmie. Emmie has had a little trouble since the last post. One of her lungs was severely underdeveloped and the other lung was leaking air. She had a chest tube put in and was put back on oxygen. She also was not supposed to be stimulated very much, so Michelle and Paul couldn't hold her. Michelle was still having blood pressure issues and they were trying to get that under control, so she wasn't feeling very well either. I'm sure all of the stress with Emmie wasn't helping! This was pretty much their status for several days. I spoke with Michelle yesterday and she let me know that both the chest tube and the oxygen had been removed from Emmie! She also said that, if she gained weight for 3 days in a row, they would move her to a crib. For anyone that has been in the NICU, moving to the crib would mean she is very close to going home. They have been able to hold and feed her. Michelle said they are hoping she will be home within a week. The doctors are still trying to get Michelle's blood pressure back to normal. They are experimenting with different medicines trying to decide which ones are working so there have been some ups and downs. Michelle is confident they will have it straightened out soon.
