I wanted to let everyone know that Emmie made it home this past Sunday. I haven't actually spoken to Michelle, but she left me a message last night saying Emmie had made it home and they had just been busy and trying to figure everything out and trying to adjust to some sort of schedule. Oh, I ache for her. I know how hard it is to be a first time mom (and even a 2nd time mom!), especially when family is not close by. Please keep them in your prayers, specifically that Michelle can somehow get enough rest to have the energy she needs to take care of Emmie. Also, that Emmie is restful and continues to grow, and that Paul is helpful, understanding, and patient.
I'm hoping to get over there before too long, so maybe I can get some pictures to post. I can't wait to get my hands on her!

Update
I just wanted to update everyone on Michelle and Emmie. Emmie has had a little trouble since the last post. One of her lungs was severely underdeveloped and the other lung was leaking air. She had a chest tube put in and was put back on oxygen. She also was not supposed to be stimulated very much, so Michelle and Paul couldn't hold her. Michelle was still having blood pressure issues and they were trying to get that under control, so she wasn't feeling very well either. I'm sure all of the stress with Emmie wasn't helping! This was pretty much their status for several days. I spoke with Michelle yesterday and she let me know that both the chest tube and the oxygen had been removed from Emmie! She also said that, if she gained weight for 3 days in a row, they would move her to a crib. For anyone that has been in the NICU, moving to the crib would mean she is very close to going home. They have been able to hold and feed her. Michelle said they are hoping she will be home within a week. The doctors are still trying to get Michelle's blood pressure back to normal. They are experimenting with different medicines trying to decide which ones are working so there have been some ups and downs. Michelle is confident they will have it straightened out soon. Please continue to pray for them.

Emmie has arrived!!
I just wanted to let everyone know that Emmie made it here safe and sound yesterday afternoon. I talked to Paul last night and he said she was a little over 4 pounds, and was doing good. He said Michelle's blood pressure went down after delivery so she is doing well and is just tired. Emmie will be in the NICU for a little while. Paul said she could go home in as little as 10 days, which I thought was awesome considering she is 6 weeks early!
I read your comments to Michelle on the phone yesterday. They are very appreciative of all your thoughts and prayers.

Emmie will be here soon!
I just received a text from Paul that said they were going to take Emmie today at 4:00 p.m.
Updated:
Michelle's dad, Nikki and her mom are on their way to be with them but most likely won't be there before the surgery. I spoke with Michelle and she is very concerned with Emmie's size and how long she will have to stay in the NICU. Please pray not only for their health and safety, but for peace of mind for both Michelle and Paul and for safe travel for Michelle's family.
I will update again once I hear anything.

Update!
Hey Everyone! It's Christy. Michelle asked me to update her blog because she has been put on bed rest and doesn't have internet at home. So...here goes:
For the last couple of weeks, Michelle has been on bed rest at home. She basically is frequently tested for various reasons such as her blood pressure, the blood flow from the placenta, Emmie's stress level, and Emmie's growth rate. They can't seem to get a handle on her blood pressure so they put her on bed rest and told her to be ready at any time she went to the doctor to be admitted to the hospital. Well...she went for another test today to see if she was developing preeclampsia. They weren't happy about the results and put her in the hospital to be monitored for 24 hours. The good news is she will be 34 weeks tomorrow, which I believe was the doctor's ultimate goal for her. I spoke with Paul tonight and he said she is very tired, but in good spirits. He said they aren't letting her eat or drink after midnight tonight just in case they have to do the c-section tomorrow.
Paul is supposed to call or text me as soon as he knows something tomorrow. I will try to keep the updates coming. In the meantime, keep all three of them in your prayers!
